Client Focus: PRIVATE

McLAREN 720S MSO

Most clients prefer to remain private and the owner of this stunning Mantis Green McLaren Special Operations 720S was no exception.

Initially the call started just asking for a 'shoot', but we soon outlined what it was he required so that we weren't wasting time and ultimately his money. The images were required to decorate a home office space, a fairly simple task to accommodate but one that is given every bit the care and attention of a much larger job.

Identifying the need

Using an existing print on the wall as a reference point, we were able to work remotely to discuss the most effective use of the space.

I suggested a large 'hero' print followed by two detail shots. The detail shots generally represent a lower time investment and are therefore cheaper. They would also compliment a more striking shot rather than detract from it.

Favourite angles of the car are then discussed and others suggested, followed by a 3D visualisation being put together.

The shoot

The car is shot indoors, in a way that allows us maximum freedom in the retouching process. We also shoot more than we need to give us more options.

This shoot, comprising a front and rear 'hero' shot along with 10 details takes approximately 1.5hrs.

Once retouched, another visualisation is sent with real images in place of the 3D ones used before.

custom faded

A bespoke background is built in Photoshop to suit the clients needs. In this case, the car is the star and so the client wants a background that doesn't detract from the impact of the car itself.

I also offer a coloured version that I think will look more striking in the print medium we have decided on - aluminium.

The client is involved at every stage necessary to ensure the workflow is refined and that they are happy before moving forward. Almost every individual element can be modified or removed.

Last call

All extra shots are shown and discussed, with ideas being shared. Ultimately it's the clients choice and a final visualisation is made up at this point.

The best bit

The metal prints arrive and I inspect the quality before drop-shipping the others, although this step is optional.

Kindly the happy customer sends me a photo of the real thing mounted on the wall at home.

"Perfect view from my desk now, thank you. Spending time on zoom calls looking at my wall!"

After-care

Technically at this point the job is wrapped up and done. But as a thank you, I create a custom phone-wallpaper and hand over the rest of the edited images to be used as desktop wallpapers.
