MOTORSPORT & PERFORMANCE
Client Focus: COMMERCIAL
I first met Ben Dunn of Motorsport and Performance (MAP) several years ago. At the time he was running a very successful rotary-specialist company called Rotary Revs - a company that was successful based on sheer hard work; not clever marketing, social media campaigns or the word of a paid-off influencer. Seeing a change on the horizon Ben shifted his main focus into a more commercially viable and lucrative market, out of which was born MAP.

With this fresh start, Ben approached me for some advice on a marketing direction to help establish his brand and, following several conversations about how we could make MAP stand out, we began our journey together.
Describe your image
the story begins
With an already operational website, our main focus was to improve the standard of imagery in order to best show off the hard work and dedication of his team.

We set about creating a gallery of 'hero' images of their iconic builds, starting with their own demo car - a brutal, supercharged 1000bhp Ford Mustang.
Building the brand
By showing off the incredible workmanship clearly demonstrated in the standard of these cars, we began to give potential customers an online showroom; a place to be drawn in by to spend time looking at these amazing machines.
collaborating
These cars are not only a product of the blood, sweat and tears that go into them; they are also a sum of their parts.
By providing images that suppliers also want to use, the brand is seen by even more eyes all around the world.
looks expensive
That's the point. The reality is that these are working cars, driven daily in some circumstances and they are shot in time slots beneficial to both MAP and the customer.

With advanced lighting and retouching techniques, these cars are shot on-site. With a refined workflow process and a flat hourly rate, these images don't need to be as expensive as they look.
what's the secret?
Attention to detail and experience. It's that simple.

Every step of the way has purpose and clarity. That keeps costs down, the workflow efficient and the results more striking.

Here is an insight into the visualisation process for the exterior of MAPs premises.

visualisation
Visualising how the prints would look as a set, the sizes they would need to be and where the windows would intersect the lines of the cars themselves were all crucial in ensuring this job went right first time.

At every stage this was a collaboration with Ben. Being given different colour and tonal options, different background choices, different cars/angle choices. It's a completely customisable and bespoke service.
staying on top
As the presence and reputation of MAP grew online, Ben recognised a need for a more regular creation of content in order to fully capitalise on the foundation we had built and so grew his team to include media production.

With some mentorship and one-on-one tuition, the work now being produced sits excellently against the Commercial work we have created.

It has been a pleasure of mine to work with this brand and contribute in some small part to the significant growth of their reputation.
Always evolving
One of my favourite things about MAP is the way they are always looking out to see what they can do better from a business perspective. We've worked on some great projects together, from tweaking their branding, matching assets to that, having a trade stall made up from the images and even providing gifts for old customers.
Motorsport & Performance very kindly asked to feature my work on their channel, here is what they had to say:
